Cozy Sloane Sweater
In the winter, sweatshirts are my only wardrobe. I have always lived in the midwest: grew up in Pittsburgh and now live in Columbus, Ohio. When you have lived thru snow and ice and wind, you dress warm to stay sane. And it doesn’t help that I am ALWAYS cold.
When I saw this pattern, I knew that the many variations would suit me well during the freezing weather. The Sloane Sweater has a bodice that can be hemmed or finished with a band. You can add a hoodie or a front pocket. There are so many combinations in one pattern!
Since I am still relatively new to sewing knits, I chose to finish the bodice with a band instead of a hem. I have to have a pocket on the front. The one sweatshirt that I own without a pocket always has me dropping my phone as my habit is to store it there and only there. And because this is the first time that I will be making this pattern, I chose to leave the hoodie for the next one.
The pattern pieces were easy to cut and match. I had some leftover gray jersey knit from another project so I used it as an accent fabric to the floral. I had enough for the bands, pocket and yoke.
I went with my serger to put everything together, using my sewing machine just for the top stitching on the shoulder, yoke and pocket.
